A regulatory inspection is easier to manage when compliance evidence is organised before the inspection date. Radiation facilities should treat inspection readiness as an ongoing process rather than a last-minute exercise.
1. Review the licence
Confirm that the current licence reflects the facility, activities, equipment and authorised scope. Keep copies and supporting records accessible to responsible personnel.
2. Review the Radiation Protection Programme
Check that the RPP is current, implemented and aligned with the actual operation of the facility. Procedures should reflect the equipment and radiation sources actually in use.
3. Check equipment records
- Acceptance and commissioning records where applicable
- Routine QC results
- Calibration certificates
- Maintenance records
- Radiation survey reports
- Corrective action records
4. Check staff competency
Maintain records for RPO/RSO appointments, radiation safety training, dosimetry and role-specific competency.
5. Close findings
Open findings should have documented corrective actions, responsible persons and completion evidence.
Medcare Hub support
Medcare Hub can conduct radiation safety assessments and compliance reviews before inspections to help facilities identify documentation and technical gaps.
