FANR compliance is not limited to submitting a licence application. For a radiation facility, compliance continues through installation, commissioning, operation, monitoring, inspections, changes and renewal.
Stage 1: Define the regulated activity
Start by identifying the equipment, radiation sources, intended use, facility and responsible personnel. This establishes the basis for the regulatory pathway.
Stage 2: Prepare technical controls
Depending on the activity, this can include shielding design, radiation protection procedures, safety assessments, equipment specifications and emergency arrangements.
Stage 3: Licensing and registration
Use the current FANR electronic services and provide the required information and supporting documentation.
Stage 4: Commissioning and testing
Before routine operation, verify applicable equipment performance, radiation safety and documentation requirements.
Stage 5: Continuous compliance
- QC and performance monitoring
- Calibration and dosimetry
- RPP implementation
- Staff training
- Incident reporting
- Internal audits
- Licence renewal and amendments
